Hola y ¡bienvenido!
I am a Spanish I & II teacher at San Marcos High School.
I earned my Single Subject Teaching Credential (Spanish, ELA, BLA) at Cal State San Marcos and completed my student teaching at Rancho Buena Vista High School (Fall '13) La Costa Canyon High School (Spring '14). I earned a B.A. in Spanish and a B.A. in Linguistic Anthropology from UCLA and then spent the next two years in Monterrey, México to complete my MBA at Tecnológico de Monterrey’s EGADE Business School. I returned to San Diego and worked in Business Operations for several years, with my dream of becoming a Spanish teacher never far from my mind. During that time, I continued to work with high school students in a variety of capacities, including as a Young Life leader, track & field and cross country coach, and private tutor. These experiences inspired me to earn my credential and follow my passion for teaching Spanish. I live in Carlsbad and love to hang out with my husband Martell and daughter Camryn. Some of my favorite things to do are travel, run (and coach runners), play at the beach, snowboard, drink chai lattes, and spend time with good friends. Learn more about me: >>Fotovoz |
On Being Bilingual
I am a Southern California native, but grew up spending my winters in Baja California Sur, México with my family. Living so close to the border and spending so much time in México, I never considered learning Spanish to be optional. My life has been greatly enriched by knowing this language, having the privilege to travel to many of the countries where Spanish is spoken, and forming friendships with people from other cultural backgrounds.
As I help my students learn Spanish, my hope is that they will gain more than just another mode of communication, but also an enriched cultural perspective as global citizens. >>Historia de mis idiomas / My Language Story |
